** Free Tai Chi Life Enhancement Seminar
** Fund Raising for the Chinese Canadian Military Museum Society
On Sunday, October 4th, 2015, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, a CCMMS Tai-Chi Fundraising Event will be held at the Central Atrium of Aberdeen Centre, Richmond, to pay tribute to the members of CCMMS, the Chinese Canadian Military Museum Society, an organization founded in 1998 dedicating to “collect, preserve, document, and celebrate the role of Chinese Canadian veterans in the service of Canada’s military.”
There were hundreds of Chinese Canadians who had served Canada during the Second World War and now only a few of them are still with us. 70 years have passed yet their service and sacrifice, as well as their courage and patriotism, remain largely unknown to the society. How to increase public recognition on the role these Chinese Canadian soldiers played in our country’s history has been the mission for the establishment of CCMMS.
As this year marks the 70th Anniversary of the end of World War II, this fundraising event has become particularly meaningful. Along with the worldwide celebration of V-J Day and commemoration of World War II veterans, we are not only to show support to CCMMS but also to raise awareness of Chinese Canadian veterans’ contributions and influences during the two wars and to the present.
In this event, members of the CCMMS will be invited to share their stories, memories and experiences and, during the intervals, CLF Canada will give a free Tai-Chi seminar on life enhancement exercise. This will be a fun, healthy activity for people of all ages and indeed a good opportunity to help introduce new immigrants to Canadian values and patriotism.
